Standing Waves, conceived and written by Roger Huckle and Marcus Davidson is world fusion music, using eastern, western, jazz, classical, folk, electro-acoustic and film! A blend with virtuoso violin, eastern percussion, voice/overtoning, piano, band, samples/soundtrack, natural and space sounds that produces exotic soundscapes.
The ensemble is flexible, with a basic set up of violin, voice, keyboards/sounds, drums/percussion and bass (string and electric), easily augmented by string ensemble, extra percussion or diverse instrumentation from local performers, or reduced down to a duo. Recent concerts have featured special pieces for marimba and saxophone.
Standing Waves began life in Bergen Norway and performs regularly in the fjords and now in the UK.
The CD ̈The Wave ̈ was released in 2019. September 2019 saw Standing Waves performing at St. George ́s Bristol with the strings of the Bristol Ensemble and November 2022 they performed at Cornerteateret, Bergen.
Standing Waves have performed with notable artists including tabla virtuoso Sanju Sahai, legendary saxophonist Pee Wee Ellis, renown overtone vocalist
Jayson Stilwell and Norwegian saxophonist Inge Weatherhead Breistein.
